The Green Party is growing fast. We now represent people in Westminster and in a record number of local councils, as well as in the London Assembly.
In Sefton, our first local councillor was elected to represent the residents of Seaforth and Waterloo (Church Ward) in 2024. This is only our first step to add that much needed voice to the Sefton Council chamber to address the critical issues that the older parties are not even discussing.
We’re working progressively on local issues; to improve the lives of all people in Sefton, and to improve our local environment. As part of the Green Party of England & Wales, we share a deep concern for social and environmental justice, expressed through our national policies. We offer hope for the future, for fairness, for inclusivity.
Greens in Parliament can make a Labour government braver and more ambitious. We have credible, practical solutions to the problems that face people every single day. We need more than just tweaks to the status quo to undo the damage of the last government and are confident we will increase our representation in Westminster in 2024. Electing more Greens to Parliament this year sends a message: Real Hope. Real Change.
We rely on people power rather than corporate finance in all that we do. Get involved with us today so that we can achieve so much more for Sefton.
Our Principles
Green Party policies are created by our membership and are firmly rooted in our core principles. The party stands for a fresh and hopeful direction for social and environmental justice as well as a transformation of society for the benefit of people and the planet as a whole. The threats to our economic, social and environmental wellbeing are inter-related; we cannot truly solve one without solving the others. We believe everyone should be entitled to basic material security as of right.
We recognise the Earth’s physical resources are finite. We threaten our own long-term security and that of future generations when we live beyond these means. Only a sustainable society guarantees a long-term future for all.
We believe a healthy society is based on voluntary co-operation between empowered individuals in a truly democratic society, free from discrimination whether based on race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion, social origin or any other prejudice.
We emphasise democratic participation and accountability by ensuring that decisions are taken at the closest practical level to those affected by them.
We also believe the success of a society cannot be measured by narrow economic indicators alone, but should take account of factors affecting the quality of life for all people: personal freedom, social equity, health, happiness and human fulfilment.
