Jeff Bee

Jeff is a graduate from Liverpool University and proud that he was the first member of his family fortunate enough to have had that opportunity. He has lived in Birkdale for over 25 years since he – and his then young family – moved to the area. Whilst his career in the retail industry meant that he was often based in different parts of the UK he wanted his children to benefit from a settled life and education in the place they all called home; they attended state primary and secondary schools here in Southport.

Education is one of Jeff’s passions and in addition to being a former lecturer at the University of Nottingham Jeff has held the post of Co-Opted Governor with schools in Burscough and Liverpool.

Having always had a belief in social justice and equality of opportunity for all, Jeff believes that we need a fresh perspective on politics at both a local and national level, where the majority of us can feel engaged and involved and not disregarded and disillusioned by a system that benefits a wealthy few at the expense of the rest of us.

Southport is a town with huge challenges but even bigger potential, but we need to think radically about how we can collectively embrace the town’s unique position (both geographically and culturally) for the future. We cannot continue to operate on the same old ideas and lines of division and then expect different results. He is hoping to reignite a sense of community and optimism for political progress by encouraging people to “Vote for a change”.
